Orbitz!

Boy!  What a mistake using them.  A friend told me that their airfare was cheaper and I shopped, and they were indeed a bit cheaper for the departure time and arrival time that i wanted.  So I booked my plane tickets for my whole family to our Hawaii vacation for this summer.  Just a week after I booked it, they moved my departure time from 11am (which is perfect and usually more expensive) to 8am and increased the price.  The price different is not so hot any more but I just didn't want to bother to cancel it.

Guess what?  Another couple of weeks later, another leg of my flights got moved again.  The departure time and arrival time were closer and closer to the other time slots that I could have gotten from elsewhere and priced just about the same.  Sigh... I just didn't want to bother.  I was thinking, well, at least I got a similar deal as the other places.

Yea, right.  Another few weeks passed.  Today, just got another email telling me that once another leg of my flight got moved again!  It is now even worst deal than I originally could have gotten from somewhere else.

I will never use Orbitz again!!

Orbitz can be a real pain. Have they told you yet that most airlines have limited your luggage to one carry on and one checked bag. A second bag will cost you 25$ each with additional fees if the checked in per person weight is over 50 pounds. If you have young children, a car seat or a stoller will count as a checked bag. You have to be a bloody genius to travel lately. Make sure they don't book your connecting flights too closely as you risk missing a leg of your flight due to the frequent flight delays.  Where are you going in Hawai'i? I have a daughter in Lihu'e on the island of Kaua'i. I can give you a couple of places to go that are not usually on the tourist scene. (Cheap places to eat etc.)

Yea, when the flights got packed, they often impose that one carry on per person limit. Most airline already have a 60-75 pounds checked bags per person. Don't know about the single bag limit though. I guess I'll have to make sure we don't have more than 1 carry on and 1 checked bag per person just in case.

We are staying in a condo near Waikiki Beach for a week. And then we'll be on a Cruise with Norwegian. I know the review of this cruise line is so so but relatively affordable.

The one bag is a new reg scheduled to go into effect in May pretty much across the board. It's to save fuel. BTW my daughter emailed me with an interesting Hawai'i fact...right now there is so much volcanic activity on the big island that a Vog, yes Vog not fog, alert has been posted. People on the big island have been evacuated and they are even seeing the effects way out on Kaua'i (the farthest island west) She is hoping that it will clear and the humidity drop soon. Who would have thought? If you get a chance you should try to go the Pearl Harbor. It is a National Park and there is no fee involved. You only need to be sure to get there as early as possible as they are able to accomodate a only set number of visitors by boat out to the Arizona Memorial. There are no limits on how many can visit the museum. They also have the Missouri nearby, the last battleship in service now decommissioned and open to the public. I know that several of the cruises spend a day or two at Nawiliwili Bay (Lihu'e) on Kaua'i along with stops on Mau'i and Lana'i.
